LinkedIn Speaker - Patrick O'Malley
For monthly LinkedIn tips |
This is a quick "Missing LinkedIn Tip" - when you put someone's name into LinkedIn, it doesn't know a lot of abbreviations, so if you look for someone named Vin, it won't find people listed as Vincent.

Text version of the lesson from the video:
In LinkedIn, the search engine doesn’t know that Vin is an abbreviation for Vincent. Therefore, make sure you try abbreviations for the names of the people that you can’t find.
My story:
I had been looking for Vin Bono, the Chief Technical Officer of a Data Center we did business with, and I couldn’t find him. Months later, I tried Vincent Bono (with the full name instead of the abbreviation), and he was actually in there twice! Creating two accounts is a mistake that many people make, and that I will address at creating two LinkedIn accounts problem. I will also show you how you can fix this problem is your name is Vin.
