Facebook privacy settings
I know. You're afraid someone is going to see "the picture". Everyone has one. Its the picture you don't want anyone to see:
- you were at a fraternity party
- you're upside down drinking from a keg
- your dress is over your head
- you're not wearing any underwear
- and you're a guy
Believe me, I understand. It happened. To a friend of mine.
Facebook is actually really good at allowing you to block people from seeing any part of your profile, including
- your pictures as a whole
- individual albums
- your Status, Wall or anything else
Yep, you can block the psycho ex-boyfriend from seeing the picture of you holding his legs up as he is drinking from the keg.
You can get to the Privacy Settings page in either of the following two ways:
- Double click on Settings in the upper right hand corner of your Facebook page
- Single click on Settings in the upper right hand corner of your Facebook page, then choose Privacy Settings from the drop down menu
Look through all of the options, but here is a quick guided tour that will show w you the power:
- Complete block
- from the basic Privacy page, at the bottom, it says "Block People", and you can block the psycho ex-boyfriend completely
- Partial block
- "Photos tagged of you"
- click Profile
- about 5 entries down, click "Photos tagged of you"
- where it says "My network and friends", click Customize from the drop down menu
- at the bottom, it says "except these people"
- yep, you can put in the name of individuals, or if you've arranged your friends in "Friend Lists", you can set up the friend's list you called Business Friends so that can't see "Photos tagged of you"
- created a
- Wall posts
- click Profile
- about 8 entries down, click "Wall posts"
- where it says "My network and friends", click Customize from the drop down menu
- at the bottom, it says "except these people"
- yep, you can put in the name of individuals, or if you've arranged your friends in "Friend Lists", you can set up the "Friend List" you called Business Friends so they can't see "Photos tagged of you"
- Photos
- Facebook kind of hides it, but under Photos Tagged of You it says Edit Photo Albums Privacy Settings, and you can block certain people from seeing
- all your pictures
- just some of your photo albums
- individual pictures
- Another way to set up Photo privacy settings is
- click Profile at the top of the Facebook page
- click the Photos tab
- Beside each Album, it says "Album Privacy". Follow the link to see the options.
- Recommendations
- Under News Feed, UNCLICK "Relationship status". Otherwise, if you decide to say someday that you are "Single", Facebook assumes you just became single, ad puts a broken heart beside your name on all of your friends pages
Good luck!
Cool, huh? Pass it on to others ...
